The Dancing Girl

Communicating emotions without sound

Like the motion of graceful gazelle

Turning outward with circular fashion

Beauty like a spectacular night sky

The fine thread-like strands brown like spun toffee

Eyes of pure diamonds glisten in celestial light

A smile full of experiences of joy and pain

Skin as fair and smooth as a baby’s cheeks

A bow, the color of sleeping beauty’s lips

Garments as white as freshly fallen snow draping down

Beautiful gold length around her neck with a sapphire pendent

Slippers shinning like a polished piece of silver

The Journey Begins

My Friend

A Sonnet by Treven Barnard

My amazing friend, you inspire me to write.

How I love the way you call, chirp, and walk.

Invading my mind day and through the night

Always dreaming of that joyful talk

Let me compare you to a sanctuary.

You are more quiet, amazing, and warm.

Snow chills the trees of January.

And wintertime has the blazing life form.

How do I love you? Let me count the ways.

I love your glorious eyes, skin, and smile.

Thinking of your sunny skin fills my days.

My love for you is a uniform style.

Now I must away with a kind heart.

Remember my words whilst we’re apart.

Poetry is when an emotion has found its thought and its thought has found words. – Robert Frost
